it was beautiful and perfect. {more to come on that later}.

deep into the mountain sound.

the band "of monsters and men" has been setting my soul swooning for the past week. any cocktail of female and male vocals with folk influences will do that to me.
not to mention i am also infatuated with monsters right now.
{and how great is the music video for their song "little talks"?!}

also check out "your bones"

and "king and lionheart"

then pre-listen to their entire new album "my head is an animal" via NPR.
{i also recommend "mountain sound" and "dirty paws"}.
really just go listen to all of it right now.

{ps- iceland. i need to visit that beautiful country. it produces great music, like bjork & of monsters and men. plus, icelanders believe in elves. two good reasons, when i only needed one. i'm sold.}

the everglades: a slow moving river.

airboats, boardwalks, mangroves, rednecks, sawgrass, wetlands.
{christmas break 2011}.

family in town {especially nieces and nephews} always constitutes a trip to the everglades, alligators & other wildlife most definitely included. after all these years i finally think they are beautiful. took me long enough. and contrary to popular belief the everglades are not a stagnant swamp but a slow moving river of sawgrass {marsh} that empties into the ocean {and does indeed include swamps}.

 see it? there is an alligator right in the middle.

bike & beach: a small adventure.

one fine day during the christmas break of 2011 when the weather was perfect, a bike and i rode through downtown naples, on to port royal, and ended up at the sandy shores of my favorite beach.
it was magnificent. {less than a month until i am home!}.
